Originally from Sacramento, California, Brad Hughes is one of the most in-demand saxophonists in the Bay Area. Equally at home in both jazz and R&B, Brad has brought his signature sound to such diverse bands as Anything She Wants, The Starlight Room Orchestra, The Tiger Club, and SF Weekly’s Reader’s Poll winners Bitches Brew (best Jazz Band). For the past four years, he has been a member of resident Boom Boom Room funksters Steppin’, and was a founding member of the seminal all-original Bay Area funk band Say What!?, opening for Parliament Funkadelic during their 2000 North American Tour. Brad has done studio work and recorded and/or played with many different artists, including the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, The Tiger Club, Roland Evans, James Carney, Charlie Haden, Ravi Coltrane, and Ernie Watts.
