Andy grew up in Santa Clara County, so he’s still close to home. He studied trumpet with Claude Gordon for seven years, and with Dr. Herb Patnoe at De Anza College while also studying math. He was later a computer science major at San José State University.
Andy’s musical career includes performances with jazz notables Toshiko Akiyoshi, Ashley Alexander, Jay Daversa, Madeline Eastman, Claire Fischer, Lou Marini, Don Menza, Art Pepper, Allyn Smith, Lew Tabackin, and Bill Watrous. He has also performed with James Brown and Tower of Power.
The ensembles he has performed with include Blue Saints Jazz Band, Blue Velvet Sound, Bob Mocata Orchestra, De Anza College Jazz Ensemble, Foothill Evening Jazz Ensemble, Full Faith & Credit, Johnny Lampson Orchestra, Touch ‘N’ Go, and the West Valley Evening Jazz Ensemble.
He currently lives in San José and works for the law firm of Kenyon & Kenyon as a litigation paralegal. While not playing with more famous players than most of us, Andy enjoys syncopated golf.
